Not ideal to see whilst diving sans-wetsuit

Diving, for me, is the perfect holiday - all I have to do is get up, eat, be briefed, dive, rest... and then do it all again once or twice more, ready for an early night's sleep. Bliss.

It also helps that with eager dive buddies rearing to plan trips, little or no organisation is required on my part.

I first dived while on holiday in Fiji - a discover Scuba dunk in the blue lagoon in the Yasawa Islands. It was relatively unremarkable, the sandy bottom didn't really give much away as to the wonders of diving. A trip to Bali the following year, with a girlfriend keen to impress her boy by learning to dive, tipped me over the edge though, and I began my dive adventure with the USAT Liberty in Tulamben.

Since then, I've never looked back. Diving provided the perfect career break - I ran away from the city, with little plans and no contacts, but I needn't have worried - a night or two at a dive lodge and it was like me circle had come with me.

And that's what diving is to me - a easy community of like-minded (usually, if we're lucky) souls, who just want to relax, and enjoy what mother nature has to offer under the waves.
